Natural Weight Loss

The fundamentals of eating right and keeping a healthy weight is just not all that complicated. As a matter of fact, I expect that most people who want to diet already know what will work best for them. Consequently, losing weight the natural way should not be a problem at all.

Accordingly, a practical approach to losing weight naturally is to stick to a diet that is high in complex carbohydrates, high in fiber, moderate in protein, and low in fat.

A baked potato is complex carbohydrate. Sour cream and butter is the fat you shouldn't put on it. Vegetables are fiber. Oil is the fat you shouldn't cook them in. A lean cut of meat is protein. Gravy is the fat you shouldn’t put over it.

Additionally, health experts say that dietary fat promotes weight gain because it is a very dense source of calories. Also, when you consume excess calories from dietary fat, you hoard those calories as body fat far more efficiently than excess calories from other sources.

Alternatively, it will also help you lose weight naturally if you do not fall into the so-called “fat-free” trap. Manufacturers are making a fortune with low-fat or fat-free versions of their best-selling foods, but Americans keep getting fatter anyway.

One of the greatest delusions is that “no fat” means “non-fattening.” The truth is, if you check the labels of no fat or low fat foods, you are frequently getting just as many calories from the no-fat product, even if the calories are not coming from fat.

The term “fat-free” will sabotage your weight loss program, if you start to believe that you can eat as much as you want of the foods that are advertised that way.

What’s more, it is best to counter hunger with healthful snacks. Nutrition experts say it would actually be better to try eating every three to four hours, which may mean a nutritious snack between lunch and dinner.

When you feel the urge for food coming on, snacking on something healthy such as fruits, like an apple or a banana is a good alternative, so try to keep them stocked in your kitchen. Don’t skip a meal and eat munchies instead because that is the worst thing you can do if you are trying to control your eating habits and weight.

Remember, if you want to lose weight naturally, you have to keep track of every food you eat and of every activity that you do. When you say natural weight loss, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have to keep track of what you eat and when you exercise.

Losing weight naturally is a method and not a fad. Therefore, it takes a lot of persistence, determination, discipline and self-control, just to achieve your ideal weight.
